Over the years, a lot of time and effort has gone into developing new and more advanced technology for the dental office. The goal of all these new tools and procedures is to create a more comfortable and convenient environment in which you can see better results faster.
We have always put a lot of focus on including the most innovative technologies in our office, which also includes a lot of time on continuing education to ensure we are using the right tools at the right time.
In general, the technology that goes into a state-of-the-art dental office can be divided into a few different categories. There are some tools and equipment that can make your visit more comfortable, some that will make the entire procedure more comfortable, and some that make our job as dentists more effective.
Let’s take a look at some of the technologies we’re currently using.
For Your Comfort
Computerized Injections – A simple needle can be very frightening for many people. In a dental situation, the pain that comes from an injection is usually caused by the soft tissue expanding too much when anesthesia is administered too quickly. Computerized injections make it possible to deliver a precise amount of anesthesia for a painless and comfortable injection.
Anesthetic Warming Device – When we heat the anesthetic material, it will be more comfortable when it is injected into the tissue.
Virtual Reality Glasses – Some people just can’t sit in the same place for an extended period and they start to fidget or get anxious. We can help the time pass more quickly by letting you watch your favorite shows with noise-cancelling headphones. (Which also helps block the sounds of drilling, that many people don’t like.)
Nitrous Oxide – Sedation dentistry may be the solution for patients who have real fears or anxieties about visiting the office. Our technology lets us administer the right amount of nitrous oxide to ensure you have a comfortable experience.
For Your Convenience
Dental Laboratory – Onsite technicians can make immediate alterations in the laboratory to make sure the results you get are personalized to your needs and delivered as quickly as possible.
Digital Computerized X-rays – We can minimize the use of radiation and immediately get the detailed x-rays we need to make a diagnosis.
DIAGNOdent Laser Explorer – The sooner we can diagnose a cavity, the faster we can eliminate it and the more of your tooth we can preserve.
Microscopes – Powerful microscopes allow us to spot bacteria that could lead to dental diseases or even contribute to heart problems.
Computerized Shade Evaluation – There’s no reason to try “eyeballing” the color of a new crown or veneer when we can use a computerized evaluation to selection the most aesthetic color for your new teeth.
Diode Tissue Laser – There are several procedures that once required a specialist to perform the surgery that we can now handle in-house with tools like this laser.
VELscope – This is the first handheld device that the FDA approved for dentists to use to spot any abnormal tissues. This means we can use it to diagnose cancer or pre-cancer cells that are not normally visible to the eye.
A state-of-the-art office has a lot of tools and equipment that will make your experience in the office faster, more comfortable, and more likely to provide the results you want. Technology continues to evolve, too, and we’re always working to stay up to date with the latest developments.
